Firm to Celebrate the Barmitzvah of the
UK Banqueting Chair Cover on April 3rd.

Speciality Linens the UK's premier Event linen specialists are to celebrate the 13th year since they introduced the banqueting chair cover to the UK with the release of the world's first ever fully comprehensive chair cover brochure.

Speciality Linens were the original party linen specialists. Founded in 1980 by entrepreneurs Sara and Raymond Crammer the company began as Rentaplate hiring as the name would suggest, cutlery and crockery to the banqueting industry, within months the products in the range had expanded to include tables and chairs as well. "This is where the company gained it's tremendous experience of the banqueting industry", says co-founder Sara Crammer, we were supplying to events at the height of the 80's where several thousand people would be entertained all in one sitting, it was hard work but we were able to gain massive amounts of feedback from end users. They picked up on the fact that stacking chairs scratched and marked on a regular basis and noticed that it had become a full time task just refinishing them. So they started looking at new materials and came up with a variety of concepts including a plastic stacking chair which at the time had not been seen before. However there was one catch, it didn't answer one of the most significant pieces of feedback from the fledgling events industry of the time.

'Stacking chairs are not particularly attractive'

It was at this point that Sara, who was undertaking a dressmakers course came across the idea of covering chairs, she worked on samples by day and night using old tablecloths from rental stock to keep material costs down.

The rest as they say, is history.
